The Making of Objects Outlive Us: Objects: Meanwhile
The Objects: Meanwhile section of the film we produced for The Overview presented a unique challenge for us as we wanted to be able to visually communicate (as per the song’s lyrics) small town life stories contrasted with the gargantuan cosmic events of the universe. The worries and problems the human figures are experiencing are tiny compared to the scale of the universe. When viewed from the perspective of all the events happening in the cosmos, these human issues appear meaningless against a backdrop of galaxies colliding, stars exploding in supernovas, and black holes swallowing up huge amounts of matter. As Steven says “Your life is meaningless, isn’t that a beautiful thing!”
This section of the film was created using Cinema 4D and Octane Render and took around 3 months to render in full 4K resolution. We are immensely proud of the Objects: Meanwhile section and the full film. Hope you enjoy it and we hope that it helps brings the world of ‘The Overview’ to life!
